But Danceful Vienna Dance Festival is not just another ProAm competition! We have created exclusive formats just for you. Unique, thrilling events designed to take your ProAm experience to the next level.

The Danceful Duel of Legends™

The Danceful Duel of Legends™ is a unique competition format, available only at Danceful Vienna. 

Unlike regular scholarships and championships—where couples dance all together on the floor and advance to the next round through selection (Quarter-finals: 24 couples, Semi-finals: 12 couples, Final: 6 couples) 

In the Danceful Duel of Legends™, couples step onto the floor two at a time for a duel. 
Each duel consists of a single dance, which will be announced by the speaker shortly before the two couples enter the dance floor. (The dances available for the duel are limited to the selected style. For example, in International Latin, the options are Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive.) 

Immediately after the duel, the adjudicators will decide which of the two couples advances to the next round. 
This thrilling head-to-head battle continues until only one couple emerges victorious.

DUEL OF LEGENDS REGULATIONS

The Danceful Icons™ Championship

The Danceful Icons™ is a championship with open participation. The six finalist couples earn the title of Danceful Icons™ for the next 12 months, until the following edition takes place. Additionally, the organizer may select a couple as a Danceful Icon™. 

The Danceful Icons™ from the previous year are entitled to bypass the first round and enter the competition from the second round onward. 

Each year, the names of the six Danceful Icons™ are recorded in the competition’s history books and website, leaving their mark on the legacy of this prestigious event. 

Viennese Waltz Masters™

Set in the heart of Vienna, the birthplace of the waltz, the Viennese Waltz Masters™ is more than a competition—it is a chance to become part of a centuries-old tradition where elegance, artistry, and history converge. 

Each year, only the finest ProAm dancers take the stage in a city that has defined ballroom excellence for generations. The six finalists earn a place in history, with their names forever recorded in the competition’s official history books and website, securing their legacy among the masters of the Viennese Waltz. 

As tradition celebrates, the grand final of the Viennese Waltz Masters™ will be danced to the iconic “The Blue Danube” (An der schönen blauen Donau), composed by Johann Strauss II—a masterpiece that has symbolized Viennese elegance for over a century. 

The champion receives the ultimate honor—an exclusive solo honor dance at the grand award ceremony. 

This is not just a competition. It is a timeless chapter in the story of the waltz. 

Danceful Honors

The signature prime-time experience of Danceful Vienna.

As the competition day comes to an end, the ballroom transforms into an elegant black-tie gala atmosphere where awards, VIP showcases, and exclusive Danceful formats come together in one unforgettable evening.

At the heart of Danceful Honors™ is a unique vision: every single amateur participating that day receives an award. Through cinematic presentations, personalized titles, live stage moments, and prestigious nominated awards, dancers are celebrated not only for their results, but for their musicality, artistry, technique, and individuality.

With emotional storytelling, LED wall presentations, official photo moments, and premium entertainment experiences, Danceful Honors™ transforms the end of each competition day into a celebration where every dancer feels like a star.

Uncontested categories

ProAm couples who prefer not to compete now have an exciting new option: the Uncontested Categories. 

In this format, couples can step onto the dance floor and enjoy the full ProAm experience—without the pressure of evaluation or comparison. They will dance alongside other uncontested ProAm couples, sharing the same energy and atmosphere, but without being judged. 

All participating couples in this category will receive a participation award during the prize presentation, recognizing and celebrating their involvement in the event.
